The City of Osawatomie's hosts three Signature Events annually:
The nostalgic John Brown Jamboree kicks off the summer season and features a classic Thursday night parade down Main Street, a bounce house carnival, a car show, and so much more. Fill the weekend with the “Cute Baby” contest, artist and crafter fair, and family-friendly entertainment.
The Lights on the Lake festival celebrates America’s independence. This event offers lakeside fun that keeps the entertainment going all day long and is topped off by an evening of larger-than-life fireworks that are set to music in a grand display over the lake.

Osawatomie’s history comes alive each September with the Freedom Festival. John Brown Memorial Park hosts this two-day event featuring Civil War-era reenactments, handcrafts, music and food. In October, the celebration continues with Bikes, BBQ & John Brown, a family-friendly non-competitive ride along the Flint Hills Trail, where kids can participate in a bike decorating contest and everyone gets to eat some BBQ.
